Justice For Vets Center Stage at Massive DC Rally

Senior Director Melissa Fitzgerald delivers stirring remarks at UNITE to Face Addiction Rally

On a cold and blustery day in October, Justice For Vets Senior Director Melissa Fitzgerald gave an electrifying speech to thousands gathered on the National Mall for the historic UNITE to Face Addiction Rally. Justice For Vets and NADCP joined over 650 diverse organizations in a coalition effort to promote the rally, which focused on fighting the stigma around drug and alcohol addiction, and celebrating the 23 million Americans living in recovery.

“Thank you all for coming together to send the powerful message that recovery is real, that no individual is beyond hope, and that every single one of us is capable of finding recovery from this terrible disease,” said Fitzgerald, to the enthusiastic audience. “Because of you, today’s rally is helping bring recovery out of the shadows! We must extend this lifesaving gift to the 23 million men, women, and young people still struggling to find their way out of darkness.”

Fitzgerald was among a number of professionals and celebrities who spoke at the rally, including Steven Tyler, Sheryl Crow, Dr. Oz, and Dr. Vivek Murthy, U.S. Surgeon General. Many thanks to Greg Williams, campaign manager of UNITE to Face Addiction, and his whole team, for including Justice For Vets and NADCP in this inspiring and illuminating event.
