Approximately one in five people who use heroin will have an overdose each year, and about  one  in  one  hundred  will  die  from  an  overdose.  Pharmaceutical  opioids  such  as  morphine,  codeine,  oxycodone,  and  methadone  also  are  involved  in  many  overdoses.
